Savor the foods, wines, and landscapes of Asturias by joining Chef Juan Carlos in the very intimate setting of Fuentes de Lucia, in Asturias. Get to know the people in this dramatic region of northern Spain and share in their culinary passion. Your hosts, Juan Carlos and Judy are a Spanish-American couple who invite you into their home, a comfortable renovated 18th-century farmhouse that was once the local school and mill. This will be a semi-active cooking holiday, designed primarily so that you walk off your last culinary creation to make room for the next round!
We’ll begin our adventure at the central market in Oviedo to sample Iberian hams, local cheeses and some Asturain sidra (an alcoholic cider) to wash it all down and kick-start the culinary adventure nicely. Once we’re settled in at the inn, we’ll venture into the kitchen, roll up our sleeves and start peeling and chopping. Plan to join our local guide for a daily two to three-hour hike along one of the many trails leading out the back door of the hotel (although it is optional). Each day we’ll cook up a storm in the kitchen, try local wines and learn as we go. What could be more enticing for the palate and soul? Step inside Fuentes de Lucía. Click here.
