Le Chemin de St. Jacques – Versailles to Chartres
9-days €3400 April 30-May 8,2020
Spanish Steps is excited to be offering a very special journey along the Camino de Santiago in France to the Cathedral of Chartres, one of UNESCO’s World Heritage Sites. During the middle-ages, the Chartres Cathedral and the Sancta Camisa became one of the most popular pilgrimage destinations. This route is part of the Via Turonensis, originating in Brussels and passing by the famous gathering point of Tour St. Jacques in Paris, onward to Chartres, Tours, Bordeaux, Saint Jean Pied Port and later, Santiago de Compostela.
We begin our pilgrimage by meeting at the train station (RER) in Burres-Sur-Yvette, to avoid walking through urban Paris. Here in Burres we meander perfectly designed trails that lead us through the glorious countryside, small villages, and dense royal forests. Not only are we following the path of the pilgrim en route to Santiago de Compostela in Spain, but we also follow in the footsteps of Louise XIV and his royal court, enjoying the splendors of royal forests and regal châteaus. The pilgrimage ends at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Chartres with a special walk of the 13th-century labyrinth and a guided tour with a local historian.
